top-4-interview-questions.jpegWhat was one question you didn't want me to ask today? This question is very similar to what is your greatest weakness? The interviewer is expecting you to be unprepared because it's an informal way of asking for weaknesses. You may be less scripted than other points in your interview, and the interviewer wants to see how you deal with that. Two scenarios commonly play out. Either a candidate blurts out a weakness where they pause and response to something thoughtful. This question gives the interviewer Information about you, but also a good sense of if you can think on your feet and answer a tough question, use this as an opportunity to show how weakness it can be strength or explain something they may not have yet asked, but might be an objection to getting the job is enough to you to overcome the opposition.

Remember, it is okay to pause and be thoughtful about your response rather than blurting something out or seeming to rehearse, be prepared but be sincere in your answer. I was hoping you wouldn't ask about my proficiency in graphic design and related software. But I do think it's important to address. It's an area for improvement for me and something I'm actively working on through membership programs in online classes, even just YouTube videos in the like. I know that it's an important part of my knowledge base as I continue to move out the ranks in market. So it's something I'm actively seeking to grow while being fully transparent that I'm not a designer.

A challenging interview question to answer is, if you could change anything about your current job, what would it be here? So you would answer it. First recognize that this is a trap. Question is, if you will bash your current or former employer, avoid falling for that. Instead focus your answer on why this new position would be a promotion for you. This new position could be gained responsibilities or learning a new skill. If that is the case, then your answer could be as simple as this. My last position is actually great and I wouldn't change much except for my responsibilities. Currently I oversee a small web development team. I'm interviewing for this position, because as I understand, I would be in charge of not only the front end developers, but also the online marketing team. I had a strong passion to work alongside the marketing team for quite a while, and that's what really excites me to be interviewing for your company.

Let's jump into the next question. Name one suggested area of improvement from your last performance review. When answering this question, you want to first assure the interviewer that your last performance review was excellent. Second, you need to avoid giving them the worst moments of your performance review. Instead focus on the minor improvements. And lastly, tell the interviewer your plans for improving yourself on those weaknesses. Here's an example answer. My last performance review, I received high marks on all categories by managing social media algorithm updates. There was one Facebook algorithm update that I was not fully prepared for. So I immediately enrolled myself in some related course work, which has proven very helpful. In addition to that, I subscribe to two new social media pod cast where the host discuss potential algorithm changes for Facebook and Instagram.
